Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School is not your typical drawing class, its about opening your mind, pushing the envelope, encompassing the model's personality and uniqueness, engaging contests and having a fun time. It is Art School Meets Cabaret! While the models are not nude, they are certainly interesting; Our lineup includes belly dancers, contortionists, body builders, cosplayers, drag queens, Pinups and roller derby girls.
Started in 2005 by artist Molly Crabapple it is the little New York art event that became a movement. Artist’s draw glamorous burlesque dancers, compete in contests, and win wacky prizes. From it’s humble Brooklyn beginnings, Dr. Sketchy’s now has over 100 branches around the globe, including Los Angeles, London, Rome, Tokyo, Melbourne and now SW Florida!
Thank You to the Artists who came to draw with us. Thank you to Alex and Diego for being an amazing Sweetney Todd and Mrs Lovett! Thank You to Jim and everyone from the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center for hosting us. Thank you!
They all deserve to die. Tell you why, Mrs. Lovett, tell you why! Because in all of the whole human race, Mrs. Lovett, there are two kinds of men and only two. There’s the one staying put in his proper place and one with his foot in the other one’s face.
Look at me, Mrs Lovett! Look at you! No, we all deserve to die… Even you, Mrs Lovett, even I! Because the lives of the wicked should be made brief. For the rest of us death will be a relief. We all deserve to die… And I’ll never see Johanna, no I’ll never hug my girl to me… FINISHED!

What is Steampunk? This is a good question that is difficult to answer…
Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting (such as the Wild West). It could be described by the slogan “What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner.” It includes fiction with science fiction, fantasy or horror themes.
This past Art Walk Dr Sketchy went “Back to the Future” and celebrated the Retro-Futuristic trend that has been gaining in popularity…Our Muse for the evening was be SteamPunk Time Traveler Rikki D Minaj. We even had Steampunk fans show off handmade jewelry and their own Steampunk Fashions!
Here are some of the photos from the evening, Thank you to everyone who came out to make art with us!
