What is Dr. Sketchy?

Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School is not your typical drawing class, its about opening your mind, pushing the envelope, encompassing the model's personality and uniqueness, engaging contests and having a fun time. It is Art School Meets Cabaret! While the models are not nude, they are certainly interesting; Our lineup includes belly dancers, contortionists, body builders, cosplayers, drag queens, Pinups and roller derby girls.

How Did it all Start?

Started in 2005 by artist Molly Crabapple it is the little New York art event that became a movement. Artist’s draw glamorous burlesque dancers, compete in contests, and win wacky prizes. From it’s humble Brooklyn beginnings, Dr. Sketchy’s now has over 100 branches around the globe, including Los Angeles, London, Rome, Tokyo, Melbourne and now SW Florida!

Dr Sketchy After Party

So in the Tradition of the Dr Sketchy After Dark / Sketchy After Party I would like to bring to your attention to the MOULIN ROUGE LGBT PARTY presented by HEN HOUSE ENTERTAINMENT., NAPLES ARTS & ENT., MAXIMUS 3000 AND PULSE NIGHTCLUB!

Are you an artist, or do you want to be one? Art lovers of ALL skill levels are invited to attend Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School at The Red Rock Saloon and experience what is easily the most exciting and creative alternative life drawing session in SW Florida! This isn’t the standard life drawing night you’re used to.

We encourage (responsible) drinking, socializing, snacking on tasty burgers and we encourage wild cheers and applause to show appreciation for our models! So, grab your sketch pads (iPads welcome), sharpen your pencils, enjoy a Rockstar Burger (or two!) and lets make some Art!

Kick off the new year by revisiting 1940′s, the end of the golden age of swing and jazz as we know it today was slowly coming to the forefront. While Ol Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra) ruled the airwaves and made the bobbysoxers swoon, artists like John Coltrane and Charlie “Bird” Parker were moving up the ranks to make their indelible mark on the jazz world.

Join Alex as she inspires us with some old fashioned 1940′s Hollywood, Film Noir and Art Deco!

The Celtic Ray: The Celtic Ray Public House in downtown Punta Gorda opened in 1997 by Proprietor Kevin Doyle. At that time there wasn’t a single establishment in the area that offers a full liquor bar and high-quality imported draught beers, bottled beers, ciders, fine wines, as well as, a selection of “soft” beverages. Their menu features traditional Irish Pub favorites made from fresh ingredients and family recipes. The Celtic Ray’s Fish & Chips are famous world-wide!http://www.CelticRay.net/

FYI Downtown Ft Myers Drinking Laws during Art Walk

Don’t forget, during Art Walk you can no longer wander around with your drink…effective…um…NOW!

Florida drinking laws states that bars and restaurants with outdoor alcohol permits can only have people drinking 12-16 feet around the establishment. If a customer leaves that area and is caught with a drink in hand FMPD says it’s the bartender or server who will be ticketed.

Some downtown bars are upset because they feel this is a law police are just now starting to enforce. They also say it is preventing them from making money.

How ’bout a Shave?

They all deserve to die. Tell you why, Mrs. Lovett, tell you why! Because in all of the whole human race, Mrs. Lovett, there are two kinds of men and only two. There’s the one staying put in his proper place and one with his foot in the other one’s face.

HowBoutAShave-ArtWalk

Look at me, Mrs Lovett! Look at you! No, we all deserve to die… Even you, Mrs Lovett, even I! Because the lives of the wicked should be made brief. For the rest of us death will be a relief. We all deserve to die… And I’ll never see Johanna, no I’ll never hug my girl to me… FINISHED!
